Vestibular Rehab
Picture
The vestibular system can be found in the inner ear that communicates to areas in the brain.  Together with the eyes and musculoskeletal system, the vestibular system assists with keeping our balance.  Vestibular rehabilitation is an exercise-based program, designed to improve balance and reduce dizziness-related problems. Our Physical Therapists will evaluate your symptoms and review your medical history. They will identify any problems with your balance, gait (how you walk), neck motion, visual stability, as well as examine other potential problem areas. Based on the findings, a plan of care is developed. The goal of your treatment plan is to improve any deficits that were identified. This, in turn, will improve your ability to function in activities of everyday living, reduce your risk for falling, and ultimately, improve your quality of life.
There are several vestibular diagnoses that could benefit from Physical Therapy:
  • BPPV- Benign Paroxysmal Positional Vertigo
  • Cervicogenic Dizziness
  • Concussion
  • Vestibular Neuritis
  • Superior Canal Dehiscence
  • Meniere’s Disease
  • Perilymph Fistula
  • Unilateral and Bilateral Vestibular Loss
  • Vestibular Migraine
  • Mal De Embarquement
  • Acoustic Neuroma
  • Space and Motion Sensitivity
  • Wallenberg’s Syndrome
  • Anxiety Related Dizziness
  • Labyrinthitis
  • Cerebellar Degeneration
