Staying Active in the New Year

1/17/2023

The New Year is a new beginning for many people. One of the most common goals people set for the New Year is to lose weight or get in shape, and that’s an area we can definitely help with!

Here at Spine & Rehab Specialists we like to promote health in all of its forms. This is physical therapy after all so we enjoy putting the physical, into physical activity.

Did you know that the recommended amount of cardiovascular exercise per week is 150 minutes? Plus 2 days of resistance training on top of that! But what does that really mean?

It sounds like a lot but it can be as simple as taking the dog out for a walk every day or taking the stairs instead of the elevator when possible. Doing these little things start to add up and next thing you know, you’re reaching your goals and getting closer towards your next fitness accomplishment! Park your car a little farther, go outside with your kids, play basketball at a park with friends, you don't need to lift weights and go to the gym every day to be active and healthy!

So make sure to be mindful and be aware of when you can fit in these quick but meaningful segments of exercise and stay active!
